The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is composed of 18 experts of high moral standing and acknowledged impartiality. Members are elected for a term of four years by States parties in accordance with article 8 of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, consideration being given to equitable geographical distribution. Members serve in their personal capacity and may be re-elected if renominated.
